that is the south side of the pentagon, the part of the pentagon shot at today. they did a whole day's worth offing and have not figure -- worth of searching and have not figured out where the bullet came from. police are wondering if perhaps the shots were fired from a passing car or perhaps a rooftop over there in pentagon city. now some videotape from earlier today. we can tell you officials told us that some of their outdoor police officers heard around 5:00 this morning five to seven gunshots. the pentagon was shut down for about 45 minutes. after about an hour and a half investigators discovered two shattered windows on the third and the fourth floor here in the pentagon in offices not occupied because they were under renovation. police believe that a high powered rifle was used, but again after searching most of the day no bullet shell casings were found. so perhaps they ended up in the car from which the shots were fired. police are looking at surveillance and also traffic cameras in the area to see if perhaps an image of the suspect, the shooter, was cap

you just saw all this fire billowing from the pentagon. you couldn't wrap your mind around what you were seeing. we walked around the entrance along the side of the potomac. they were setting up makeshift triage and we were listening and taking it all in. soldiers on walkie-talkies saying we need more body bags. we heard them say, another plane is incoming. we saw fighter jets fly overhead. none of our cell phones were working. we finally were talking via another truck operator at our station, using our two-way. we were trying to get to him to get on the air and tell people what we were seeing at our location. we finally met up with him and his name is carlos gonzalez, and i remember being so happy to see him, because you wanted some sense of normalcy. that's where we stayed. we stayed that entire day there, because they couldn't coordinate the media. there was obviously a lot of more important things to do. the next day we moved here to this gas station and where we stayed the next two weeks reporting around the clock. as i stand here 10
